The Department of Agriculture National Dairy Authority-Southern Mindanao Department (NDA-SMD) joins the observance of the Philippine Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2022 at the NDA-SMD office in Davao City.

Last November 21, 2022, The NDA-SMD staff watched a series of documentary videos on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) after their Monday convocation program. The videos emphasized that awareness on AMR must be disseminated most especially for dairy farmers who are dealing with livestock.

NDA-SMD Assistant Manager Doctor Rayan Ysulat further elaborated and shared insights on the proper use of antimicrobial in dairy. He also reminded that when administering antimicrobials to dairy animals, it should be done in accordance with the recommendations of licensed veterinarians.

AMR is a global concern especially when dealing with livestock and dairy. Information campaigns and awareness must be enforced in order to produce safe and antimicrobial-free milk.
