The Department of Agriculture – National Dairy Authority Southern Luzon Department (NDA-SLD) facilitated the 2-day Philippines – Czech Republic Dairy Cooperation activity last August 25-26, 2022 in Lipa City, Batangas. The activity was conducted to introduce Czech know-how and practical steps supporting the further development of the dairy sector in the Philippines.
The first day was attended by selected farmers and dairy processors from different assisted cooperatives and associations from the nearby provinces in which they were trained in making dairy products such as probiotic milk, yogurt, acidophilic, kiefer, cheese, and milk. The actual demonstration was actively participated by the farmers and dairy processors together with NDA SLD personnel. There were also discussions on the importance of nutrition in dairy processing.
A focus group discussion was followed on the second day where NDA-SLD field personnel shared their duties and responsibilities as well as the problems and challenges they encountered and experienced in the implementation of the dairy project. The said discussion was intended to support field personnel in addressing some concerns and effectively performing as dairy extensionists. A taste test on the finished dairy products was carried out right after the activity.
The 2-day activity was spearheaded by Dr. Blanka Krivankova, Dr. Veronika Legarova, and Dr. Miljan Erbez who are all dairy experts from the Czech Republic Development Cooperation.
