The National Dairy Authority-South Luzon Department (NDA-SLD) headed by Dr. Gabriel L. Lagamayo, Officer-in-Charge Manager, had a dialogue with Hon. Antonio L. Uy, Jr., Municipal Mayor of Sta. Cruz, Marinduque last February 15-16, 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to promote the agency’s herd build-up program and encourage farmers to venture into dairy enterprises.
NDA-SLD is set to conduct Dairy Program Orientation and upgrading of native cattle in identified barangays of the said municipality. The Local Government Unit (LGU) had also expressed its intention to procure dairy animals for dispersal. In support, NDA-SLD will be providing technical training to prospective farmer-beneficiaries.
Also highlighted in the meeting is the agency’s collaboration with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in the implementation of the Republic Act 11524, otherwise known as the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Trust Fund Act.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Edilberto M. de Luna, Municipal Administrator, and Mr. Gerardo Diana, Municipal Agriculturist of Sta. Cruz. It was concluded with a milk toast to signify their commitment to boosting local milk production and increasing herd inventory.
