The Department of Agriculture – National Dairy Authority, through its Food Safety Team, hosted the Second Department of Agriculture-Food Safety Focal Group (DA-FSFG) Special Meeting on June 28, 2022. The activity was led by Assistant Secretary for Regulations, DA-Assistant Secretary Dr. Liza G. Battad, and NDA Administrator, Dr. Farrell Benjelix C. Magtoto. It was attended by Food Safety Focal Persons from different agencies of DA, namely, Agriculture Training Institute, Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards, Bureau of Animal Industry, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Bureau of Plant Industry, DA-Policy Research Service, Food Development Center, Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, National Meat Inspection Service, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Regulations, Philippine Coconut Authority, Sugar Regulatory Agency and National Dairy Authority. Ms. Judith A. Platero and Mr. Lennard Bryle P. Rosal are the NDA representatives to the DA-FSFG. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the preparation for the Food Safety Mid-Year Planning Workshop.

Administrator Magtoto highlighted in his welcome message the OneDA, OneDAiry Revolution and the strengthening of food safety by ensuring safe and quality milk for safer and healthier Philippines. He also emphasized the roles and responsibilities of the DA-Food Safety Regulatory Agencies (FSRA), including NDA, in the implementation of Republic Act 10611 or the Food Safety Act of 2013. Administrator Magtoto concluded his message by introducing a new acronym of FSRA as reminder to the group: Focused, Science-based, Resourceful and Advancement of food safety through the OneDA Reform Agenda. This was followed by a message from ASec. Battad on the importance of DA agencies working together and with other agencies especially on the rules and regulations, guidelines and compliance related to food safety. After their message, ASec. Battad and Administrator Magtoto headed the DA-FSFG with a milk toast.
