Along its efforts to expand the local dairy industry, the National Dairy Authority (NDA) also aims to strengthen its workforce to ensure that the growing needs of the local dairy farmers and stakeholders are being met effectively and efficiently.
Dairy Training and Research Institute Director Amado A. Angeles welcomes participants to the week-long training
Thus, in June 2018, the NDA partnered with the Dairy Training and Research Institute (DTRI) through the University of the Philippines Los Baños Foundation Inc. (UPLBFI) in designing and implementing a training program aimed at enhancing the knowledge, attitudes and skills of its employees. The training program is divided into four parts:
§ Part 1 - Refresher Course on Dairy Cattle Management with modules on Animal Health and Reproduction (7 days) and Animal Nutrition and Forage Production (7 days);
§ Part 2 - Course on “Integrated Dairy Management” covering topics on production, processing, marketing, finance, organizational development, and extension (8 days);
§ Part 3 – Course on Control Systems in Dairy Enterprise with modules on Dairy Farm and Plant Operations and Record Keeping (8 days) and Understanding Financial Statements (5 days); and
§ Part 4 – Course on Effective Communication in Delivering Extension Services (7days).
At present, there were two groups, comprised of about 15 employees each, who have undergone the first part of the training program. The first group has completed the module on Animal Health and Reproduction on June 18-24, 2018 while the other group has finished the module on Animal Nutrition and Forage Production on June 26-July 2, 2018.
The next series of trainings are scheduled in the coming months until March 2019.
