NDA Southern Mindanao Conducts Public Consultation on Dairy Safety Regulations

In order to solicit the views of the dairy stakeholders on the forthcoming implementation of the Dairy Safety Regulations, the NDA Southern Mindanao Department conducted a public consultation on February 22, 2018 at Sunny Point Function Plaza, Maa, Davao City.

The activity aims to: review, scrutinize, and finalize the Dairy Safety Regulations; identify the issues and concerns of relevant stakeholders in its implementation, and; prepare a plan of action for the regulatory activities to be executed by the NDA.

Mr. Warren C. Pagdato, NDA Milk Quality Control Officer, presented the latest draft of the Dairy Safety Regulations. During the open forum, participants were given the opportunity to seek clarifications and explanations on the provisions discussed particularly on the registration and accreditation fees. NDA Administrator Marilyn B. Mabale was present in the meeting to address the queries raised by the participants.

A total of 135 attendees comprising of 83 farmers and processors; 14 representatives from various government agencies including the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs) 11 and 12, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Region 11, USEP Tagum, Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), and University of Southern Mindanao (USM); and 15 representatives from different Local Government Units LGUs.
