3. Facilitation of Local Dairy Animals Buy-back Services

NDA’s buy back of dairy animals answers two important aspects of dairy herd build-up:  the need for additional animals sourced from existing dairy farms thereby providing an additional profit source for the farm; and, providing opportunity to dispose dairy animals that are in excess of what the farm can manage that will, otherwise, literally eat up profits.  In this way, dairy animals are transferred to where these animals are needed, dairy animals are assured to be milked, and farmers have only the animals that they need.

Animals offered for buy-back shall be evaluated by the Technical Evaluation Team composed of the PDO assigned in the area, the loans officer, and a PDO Veterinarian.  The evaluation form shall be signed by the members of the TET

The process’ duration depends mostly on the value and number of animals to be sold at a given time as this has to pass through the usual bidding process.  NDA’s threshold for public bidding is above PhP5000, 000 wherein it will require posting in the PhilGEPS.

NDA shall cover the cost of testing for Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, Surra, and other diseases that will be required to secure a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry or any of its deputized officers in the DA Regional Offices.
