Taking part in the worldwide celebration of the World Milk Day, the National Dairy Authority (NDA) held a milk sampling activity on June 1, 2018 at Rizal Park, Manila in its aim to raise awareness of the dairy sector and to recognize the importance of milk as a global food. Aside from free choco milk, NDA representatives also distributed information materials to promote the programs and services offered by the agency.
Simultaneous celebrations spearheaded by the NDA Regional Departments also took place in the provinces of Bulacan, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.
The World Milk Day has been an official occasion since 2001, when the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) set the first of June to celebrate the importance of milk as global food and to recognize the vital contribution of the dairy sector to economic growth, livelihoods and nutrition. Since then, it has become a yearly event being participated by many countries throughout the world.
