The Department of Agriculture-National Dairy Authority (DA-NDA) Northern Mindanao Department headed by Manager Jester John P. Jadap attended the 12th Annual General Assembly of the Baluarte Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BMPC) at the dairy goat communal farm in Barangay Baluarte, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro on March 30, 2022.
The BMPC is one of the nine (9) newly-assisted dairy goat cooperatives in the PL480 Intensified Dairy Enterprise Development Project- Dairy Goat component for Northern Mindanao. The cooperative received 70 imported Saanen goats in June 2021.

BMPC president Mr. Roni A. Pagaran expressed his gratitude for the dairy project despite the difficulties everyone has experienced with the onset of COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crises. He also elaborated the different government projects provided to BMPC they receive almost every year.

To date, the LGU Cagayan de Oro City through the City Agriculture Office has provided the BMPC a vegetable garden project that will directly complement with their dairy goat project where the animal manure can be a good source of organic fertilizer in their vegetable garden.

Meanwhile, Felino Oliver L. Apor the dairy communal farm manager announced that the goat communal farm is now earning from the milk produced by the goats they received last year. Availability of the milk also provided nutrition for the families of the members. He said that there are a lot of buyers who come to the farm to buy their milk at 100 pesos per liter.

NDA Northern Mindanao Department Manager Jadap highlighted in his speech that BMPC is one of the top dairy goat milk producers among the nine (9) primary beneficiaries of the PL480 project.

Also present during the activity were Northern Mindanao Federation of Dairy Cooperatives headed by Chairman Robert “Bong” M. Enerio, the Cagayan de Oro City Community Improvement Division headed by Mr. Roger M. Zerna, and the representatives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Region 10.
