The Department of Agriculture – National Dairy Authority (NDA) attended the launch of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) last June 24, 2022 at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City, Quezon Province.
President Rodrigo R. Duterte recently signed into law the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund Act (Republic Act No. 11524) which aims to improve the competitiveness of Filipino coconut farmers by increasing overall productivity and income of coconut farmers, alleviating poverty, and achieving the twin objectives of rehabilitating and modernizing the coconut industry to attain social equity.
As one of the implementing agencies of CFIDP and as the lead agency for dairy development, the NDA aims for a more improved, productive, and profitable coconut farms integrated with dairy farming activities and dairy animals that produce milk and milk products which will provide additional income to coconut farmers and nutritious food to their families.
NDA Administrator Dr. Farrell Benjelix C. Magtoto attended the event together with the target beneficiaries of the Coconut-Dairy Integration Project for the province of Quezon namely Palcon Dairy Multi-Purpose Cooperative at Canda Farmers Association. The NDA will be assisting these farmers through the provision of dairy animals and capacity building.
Dairy farmers from the Southern Luzon area also attended the launch and showcased different products like pasteurized milk, flavored milk (strawberry, coffee, greek frappe, melon, choco), yogurt, choco spread, white cheese and milk bar to name a few.
